Rio+20 Wrap Up: Federal Dialogues, Global Compact and International Networks
An initiative of the Department of Federative Affairs (SAF – in Portuguese) of the Institutional Relations Secretariat of Brazil, of the Economic and Social Affairs Council of Brazil in partnership with the Ministry of Environment of Brazil.
This series of events are aimed at broadening the discussion on the topic of sustainable development, focusing on the role of subnational units. Each meeting will seek to provoke reflection and debate, contributing to the joint action of the Federal, States and Municipal governments from all over the world in relation to the objectives of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development, Rio +20.
It will present an overview of the regional reality of Sustainable Development in Brazil and recommendations to the Conference. The main objectives are:
• Building a collective reflection by debating and exchanging experiences between operators and national experts;
• Generating support for a discussion about solutions for issues related to Environment and Sustainable Development, aimed at the advance of the discussions of new federal arrangements.
